Bright and Creative Graphic Designer Wanted

22nd Century Media, a rapidly growing media company that publishes 15 community newspapers and a regional magazine, is currently seeking a bright and creative Graphic Designer for a full-time in-house position in its Orland Park, IL office.

Position Overview:
This position reports to the Chief Creative Officer and requires the ability to work with different personalities in a consistently professional manner. The ability to follow strict directions on one project while using personal creativity on another is essential. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Programs used (Mac platform):

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro


  • Designing creative advertisements for multiple print publications

  • Creating website skins and advertisements for multiple websites

  • Communicating professionally and effectively with in-house and remote sales reps

  • Creating and updating rate cards, presentations, media kits and other in-house collateral

  • Taking direction and working on assigned projects from the Creative Director

  • Participating in departmental discussions and critiques

  • Editing and uploading weekly digital versions of publications

  • Preparing PDF files for print

  • Troubleshooting PDF files

  • Creating Special Sections advertisements and cover designs

  • Updating existing and creating new print and web collateral for Events (brochures, sell sheets, posters, rate cards, banners, billboards, contracts, logos, etc)

  • Assist with other miscellaneous design projects as requested (flyers, posters, etc)


  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac platform

  • Strong typography knowledge and expertise in visual hierarchy as it applies to advertisements

  • Expertise in preparing and editing PDF files

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and with a team in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment

  • Attention to detail and impeccable proofreading skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred

  • Experience creating HTML emails and websites is a plus
